“Fraknói” Summer Academy VII in Győr and Pannonhalma
This year, the Summer Academy of the HAS–PPCU “Vilmos Fraknói” Historical Research Group of Rome was held in Győr between 6 and 8 August.
More than fifty participants of the conference visited Pannonhalma as well. The activity of the research group can be followed by clicking here.
The primary aim of the “Fraknói” Summer Academy is to organize the cooperation of young researchers of church-history, to involve them in scholarly discourses, and to disclose the perspectives of research for them. The students, young researchers and university teachers spent their first day and a half of the conference in “Brenner János” College of Theology introducing the latest results of their varied research. The conference focussed on the history of the Diocese of Győr and the Benedictine Order. The programme included a podium-dialogue introducing the course of life of the former director of our Archives, Gáspár Csóka OSB, who celebrated the diamond-jubilee of his ordination; his partner in the conversation was a former pupil of his, Kornél Szovák. The experts visited Pannonhalma too, where beyond being shown round in the Basilica and the Cloister, they participated in a detailed guidance in the Archives and the Library; finally, the talk given on the history of the Order by Archabbot Emeritus Asztrik Várszegi was concluded with an exciting conversation.
The programme of the conference can be seen here:
